Rickey Smiley Dishes on Wearing Glasses | Fall Fashion 2018

Rickey Smiley is a well-know stand-up comedian, TV & radio host, and actor. We’re lucky enough at America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses to carry his fantastic line of eyeglasses, Rickey Smiley Eyewear! During our Fall Fashion season, we sat down with Rickey to get more insight into how he first started wearing glasses, why he chose to design an eyewear line and how he went about it. I had to start wearing glasses when I was in the 3rd grade.  At that time, glasses for kids were not very attractive and had a stigma attached to them – they usually made you look a little goofy or nerdy.  

So when America’s Best gave me the unbelievable opportunity to create some glasses for them, I wanted to create the look I always wanted for myself. I wanted them reasonably priced, since that was the obstacle that kept me from having cool glasses when I was young.  I wanted sleek on the face, sexy and fun. But fun in a classic way – not in a crazy way.  

Glasses should feel as good to wear as a nice suit or a hat that enhances your appearance.  It can be an accessory as much as your belt or shoes.  

When you choose the right glasses they become part of the look – they don’t detract from the look.
