Eyeglasses Worth Voting For!

Election day is coming up quickly and you can’t turn on your computer, TV, or radio without hearing about it.  No matter what side of the political aisle you are on, or who your favorite candidate is, there is one thing I’ve recently noticed: Politicians have been making a fashion statement with stylish glasses for decades!

Did you know every president in U.S. history has needed some sort of vision correction?  This is most likely because the average age of an Oval Office occupant is 55.  But, even the youngest presidents in history, including John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton have been photographed sporting some of the most stylish reading glasses. Hmmm… I wonder if there may be a correlation between great glasses and political success?

Teddy Roosevelt and Calvin Coolidge were some of the first free world leaders to wear their glasses everywhere.  In recent decades though, every sitting President has been caught on camera wearing some type of fashion eyewear or designer sunglasses.  Even the candidates’ running mates have made their marks with stylish frames.  (Even if you don’t remember Sarah Palin, I bet you remember her glasses!)

Let’s take a look at some of the styles modeled by the current contenders for and former holders of America’s highest offices.

Bill Clinton

Here’s a style President Bill Clinton liked best.  These tortoise shell, plastic hipster frames made by Ray-Ban® are what he can still be spotted wearing.

George W. Bush

President George W. Bush also preferred plastic frames.  His were black and a classic style like these trendsetters by Bronx.

Barack Obama

President Barack Obama prefers a metal frame for his reading and sunglasses.  You’ll most often see him wearing smaller, silver or rimless frames like these by Agility.

Joe Biden

Like his boss, Vice President Joe Biden also prefers metalHe can frequently be seen sporting a pair of Aviators™ like these from Ray-Ban®.

Paul Ryan

Finally, VP hopeful, Paul Ryan is only 42 and may not need everyday vision correction.  Yet, this summer he chose a trendsetter pair of oversized metal sunglasses as a part of the disguise he used to elude the media.  Check out this similar frame from Ray-Ban® if staying incognito is part of your campaign plan.

Don’t worry if you aren’t ready to vote for your favorite pair.  America’s Best has great news if you are still undecided.  You don’t have to choose just one pair, take home both for a great low price!
