Geek is Chic

Everyone knows that people who wear glasses look smarter. But, people who wear certain glasses (nerd glasses) — take that look to a different level. They not only look smarter but they also look hip!

Sure the nerd look isn’t new. Now, it’s cooler though to sport some big, geeky glasses with a high fashion outfit. The look isn’t Steve Erkel from the 90s, but rather designer nerd. This means you sport a pinstriped suit and a skinny tie or a sweater vest and school girl kilt. The most important aspect of dressing geek chic is just being purposeful about every aspect of your look. To pull this look off, you have thought through your daily ensemble and get a little giddy if someone asks you for help to fix their computer–just because they think you look like you know what to do!

There is one piece to every aspiring hipster nerd’s wardrobe though that is essential. Yes, the geek chic look requires the right pair of glasses. Most of the time, quintessential geek chic is defined by a pair of thick, black chunky frames. But, in recent years, those hoping to pull off the “it’s cool to be a geek” look have branched off to include some other colors and even patterns in the plastic frame genre.
