Avoid These Makeup Mistakes

Glasses are some of the best accessories you could find for your face! But wearing glasses DOESN’T eliminate your need for makeup all together. Some women choose not to wear makeup with their glasses and miss out on the opportunity to really dress up their eyes.

If you do wear glasses, here are some things to avoid when applying your makeup:

1.    Ignoring Your Eyebrows

It may seem like no one can see your bushy brows hiding behind that fashion frame, but it’s key to keep your eyebrows neat. Plucking, waxing or threading are all ways to get an appealing shape with a subtle arch. A bit of daily maintenance with a brow brush, brow liner, or clear brow gel will help keep them tame throughout the day.

2.    Skipping Lashes

It’s important to pay proper attention to your eyelashes behind your lenses. Curl your lashes before you apply any mascara to keep them from hitting the lens of your frames as you blink. If you have dark circles under your eyes, only apply a light coat of mascara on your lower lids or you may exaggerate them.

According to make-up expert Bobbi Brown, women who wear eyeglasses can sometimes make the mistake of wearing eye shadow colors that competes with their frame color. Brown recommends choosing a color that is a shade lighter than your frame color, or a nice neutral color shadow to best highlight your eyes while they are framed by your fashion glasses. If you wear a lot of other colors near your face, for example bright lipstick, Brown says to consider skipping eye shadow altogether.

4.    Line Those Eyes

Eyeliner is an essential for women who wear glasses. Don’t skip this step because you think no one will notice behind your frames. A thin, soft liner works well for most everyone. Experts recommend some women avoid lining the bottom lids because heavy liner there can make you look older than you really are.

5.    Keep your Makeup Matte

Shiny, sparkly and shimmery looks can be fun, but it’s best to keep your look more matte when you are wearing eyeglasses. Too much sparkle in too many places can be distracting.

6.    Check Your Cheeks

You may also want to add a little color to your cheeks that blends well with the tone of your eyeglass frames. If your frames are a cool color (blue, green or purple), stick to blush shades with blue undertones. The same applies for warm colored frames (red, orange and brown) and blush with yellow undertones. Keeping your shades coordinated will help give you a very polished look.
