3 Ways to Know You’re Wearing the Right Frame

Choosing a new eyeglass frame can be a risky prospect.  You want to find a pair that you know you’ll love (at least until your appointment next year!).  That’s kind of a big commitment.  How do you really know if you have the right pair of glasses for you?

I believe there are three main ways you can tell if you are wearing the right eyeglass frame.  You can also use this list when you are choosing a frame.  Let this list be your guide so you choose the right pair (or pairs–as I would suggest owning two great designer frames) so you know you’ll be happy with your choice for the year to come.

1. The Right Eyeglass Frame is a Color that Matches You!

My favorite eyeglasses this year are navy blue.  Black plastic frames looked too geek chic for me.  I like the look but it didn’t look right with my southern-girl style.  The right eyeglass frame will be in a color that looks good with your skin tone and hair.  It should also blend with most of your wardrobe because– chances are– you choose your clothing using the same criteria (i.e. clothes that are in colors that look good on you!).  Don’t feel pressured to choose a wild colored eyeglass frame just because that’s what is popular right now.  Chances are, the frames you gravitate towards in the store are the ones that are in colors that are right for you.

2. The Right Eyeglass Frame has a Shape that Looks Good on Your Face!

When it comes to choosing an eyeglass frame shape, think in opposites.  If your face is long and angular — choose an eyeglass frame that is wider and rounder.  Or, if your face is round as can be, then choose a frame with some angles.  I think you can tell a good frame shape the second you put it on.  If you aren’t sure of your face shape, ask your optician to help you by giving you several different shape options with which to experiment!

3. The Right Eyeglass Frame Should Invite Compliments!

There are two standard comments people have for those of us wearing glasses.  The first is, “I love (or like) your glasses!”  and the second is, “Oh, you wear glasses.”  You will know you have the right frame on if you hear the first comment more than you hear the second!  It is just the truth. People notice great eyeglasses like they notice a cute necklace or great dress.  The right frame will get the right response!
